Commitment to Content Knowledge and Scholarship
It is my commitment to education to provide learners the knowledge and understanding of the chemistry curriculum, as set by the National Science Teachers Association and WV Common Core Standards. For four years, I was a tutor in science and math for several organizations, such as the Upward Bound Program and West Side Elementary After School Program. Also, I was ACT Math and chemistry teacher for the fall component of Upward Bound. Through college, I had the opportunity to be a member of the WVSU American Chemical Society, which completed activities on campus and out in the local community. Due to my involvement and accomplishments, I was one out of three students nominated and accepted for the Hach Scholarship, which is a scholarship for chemistry education majors. These activities have shaped me as a future educator and has given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of science. Also, I am able to use my content knowledge to apply to real-life situations.
